Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) Aviation School Student Housing
Myron P. Naneng, Sr., President of AVCP announced today the construction of the AVCP Aviation School Student Housing in Bethel, Alaska. This demonstration project is utilizing an integrated truss system for two energy efficient duplexes which were designed by Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC). The funding for this project is from a State of Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development grant. The duplexes are adjacent to the Allanivik Hotel and are 2,250 square feet (each) and will be constructed utilizing local labor by the AVCP Housing Improvement Program.
Naneng stated that “the ability to provide safe, affordable housing for the aviation school students is a critical component in the long-term success of the AVCP Aviation program.” It is anticipated that the housing will be completed early next year.
