Program Purpose

The overall philosophy of the AVCP Head Start Programs states that the children are our future, their development is crucial to insuring a continuing and strong Alaskan Native culture that has been built on traditional values and will continue building on these values so they become a vital part of our children growth and development.
Our philosophy incorporates the ideas and skills of sound nurturing of our children in all aspects of growth: those being educational, health, nutritional practices, and the development of self-esteem and respect for others as well as self, pride in their native heritage. These will help guide our children to grow and develop into competent and mature adults.
