Summary Job Goal: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of equipment. The work is conducted outside in a construction environment for up to twelve (12) hours per day, in all weather conditions.
Performance Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs daily safety and maintenance checks of the equipment.
- Cleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
- Ensures heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Advises the Superintendent of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
- Participates in routine maintenance.
- Practices workplace safety.
- Maintains inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment and at any time of employment.
Must have Driver’s License with no major driving offenses in past 5 years.
EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or GED is required. Construction experience is required. Proven proficiency with heavy equipment operation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Commerical Drivers’ License (CDL) is required.
This position is a Grade 4 and has a Salary Range of: $46,318 – $60,161
