Deadline: 2020 AVCP Award Nominations

This year, the AVCP Annual Awards will honor entities that have continued to accomplish exceptional work for the betterment of our region in light of difficulties presented by the COVID pandemic. The 2020 AVCP Award nomination categories are: Health, Education, Hunter Fisher, Small Business, Youth Leadership. Learn more about each award category, below.

Awardees will be recognized at the 2020 AVCP Annual Convention.

Nominations must be received by AVCP no later than Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. AKST.

Health – Recognizes an organization in our region that has demonstrated strong commitment, competence and sensitivity in the health fields; whose accomplishments have improved health care for Alaska Natives during the COVID pandemic.

Education– This award recognizes an organization in our region that has improved educational opportunities for Alaska Natives in light of the need for social distancing. Organization can include traditional education, preschool, elementary, secondary, or postsecondary education.

Hunter/Fisher – Recognizes an organization that exemplifies and preserves the spirit of successful subsistence hunting, fishing, trapping and sharing, and our way of life. The nominee organization must acknowledge and ensure that the next generations of providers will carry on the traditions and customs in harmony and peace to sustain their extended families.

Small Business – Recognizes a small business in our region that has demonstrated success in business with a commitment to the health of their staff and community in light of the COVID pandemic, that has improved economic opportunities for Alaska Natives.

Youth Leadership – Recognizes an Alaska Native youth who demonstrate leadership qualities in light of the COVID pandemic.
