Tribal Court Master Series Training, Part 1: Tribal Court Set-Up

The AVCP Tribal Justice Department, in collaboration with the AVCP Tribal Services Department, will be hosting our 2019 TRIBAL COURT MASTER SERIES TRAININGS in a four-part series of trainings. Part one, scheduled for April 16-17, 2019, will discuss Tribal Court Set-up and will be held at the Alaska Bible Seminary in Bethel, Alaska. Presentation topics will include:
- Court development and set-up
- Case management
- Court Personnel
- Inter-Tribal Court
- Judicial Codes
During this four-part series training, we hope that all participants will develop a clear understanding of everything pertinent and relating to Tribal Courts in Alaska. The training is open for AVCP Member Tribal Court Judges, Clerks, Court Administrators and Tribal Council Members that act as Tribal Courts and will focus on the entirety of a Tribal Court Set-up. The training will be concluded by April 17th, 2019, Participants can expect to travel home on April 18, 2019.
Travel, lodging and per diem is provided for up to 60 of people from the AVCP tribes if necessary. AVCP will provide scholarships for up to 2 people from each community with precedence being given to tribal court staff. The training is open for whomever would like to join. If AVCP is not able to offer travel assistance, the tribe or individual will be responsible for paying that individuals travel, lodging and per diem. Space is limited.
