AVCP Delegation Joins Inuit Leaders from Across the Circumpolar North at the 15th Inuit Circumpolar Council General Assembly
IQALUIT, NUNAVUT, CANADA (July 22, 2026) — Representatives from the Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) are participating this week in the 15th Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) General Assembly in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada, joining Inuit leaders from across the Arctic to address issues of shared importance to Inuit communities.
Representing AVCP at the General Assembly are AVCP Board Chairman Thad Tikiun, Board Vice-Chair Martin Andrew, Board Secretary Julia Dorris, and Vivian Korthuis, Chief Executive Officer. The AVCP delegation joined the remaining members of the 18-member ICC Alaska delegation, representing the Bering Strait, Northwest Arctic, North Slope, and Yukon-Kuskokwim regions.

Association of Village Council Presidents: Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) is a regional non-profit tribal consortium comprising 56 federally recognized tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. AVCP’s region is approximately 55,000 square miles, with a population of 27,000 residing in 48 communities along the Yukon River, Kuskokwim River, and Bering Sea coast.
