AVCP Delegation Highlights Yukon-Kuskokwim Salmon Crisis and Arctic Food Security at ICC General Assembly
IQALUIT, NUNAVUT, CANADA (July 24, 2026) — The Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) delegation continued its participation in the 15th Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) General Assembly on Friday, joining Inuit leaders from across the Arctic for discussions centered on food security, environmental stewardship, Indigenous knowledge, and Inuit-centered economic development.
Day three of the General Assembly began with an opening invocation led by the ICC Chukotka delegation. Representatives from Chukotka lit the traditional Qulliq and welcomed delegates with a Siberian Yupik dance, highlighting the shared cultural traditions that connect Inuit communities across the circumpolar North.
